About Us
Formed under the aegis of the Foundation for Life Sciences and Business Management, a non-profitable organization, Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences and Business Management (SILB), Affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, is the culmination of the lifelong dream of several internationally renowned academicians and business leaders. A dream to help build India’s burgeoning Life Sciences & Business Management Industry by developing a world class institute, it aims at developing leaders in the said areas by providing adequate interaction with experts and exposure to R&D institutes and industrial setups.
SILB has been set up in the serene and scenic environs of Solan, the ‘Mushroom City of India’, and the ‘Fastest Growing Hill Town in Asia’. Solan, located mid-way between Kalka and Shimla (55 km from Shimla and 75 km from Chandigarh), with pleasant summers (the temperature rarely rises above 30˚C), occasional snowfall, average annual rainfall of 1200 mm and an altitude of 1600 m, is one of the district headquarters of Himachal Pradesh. The city is an educational hub of the State and hosts a number of prestigious universities, national institutes and residential schools. It can be reached from Delhi (about 310 km) by train/road via Chandigarh/Kalka. Chandigarh and Shimla are the nearest airports.

- Placement & Career Development Cell : SILB has a dedicated and proactive placement cell, which focuses on personality and career development. Besides identifying various organizations for industrial training and higher education, it also provides placement assistance.

- Training Programs : SILB organizes training programs for NET, GATE, GK, Aptitude, Music & Yoga, entrepreneurship and personality development.

From The Founder’s Desk
With knowledge becoming the key driver of society and economy, life sciences and biotechnology are making enormous headway. There is a high-speed growth in the life sciences sector and it is providing new avenues in healthcare, agriculture, food processing and environmental protection. New disciplines such as genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics and novel applications like gene testing and regeneration of human organs or tissues has come into existence. Bio Sciences are set to impact the society and the global economy in a marked way and India is at the forefront of this pursuit. With a growing number of serious players in the industry and with India’s famed intellectual property, these are exciting times for the biotech industry in the country.

My dear students
You are all standing on the threshold for selecting your career and joining a new Institution of Higher Learning. Please keep SILB in your priority list. I, Saroj Khosla, the founder and chairperson of SILB have a dream to make it a beautiful garden where birds come and freely sing songs of happiness and success. The institute, since its establishment in 2004, has been proving it. Every year the students are decorated with gold medals and merit positions in the Himachal Pradesh University Shimla. The institute strongly believes in the philosophy of the great educationist Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore: “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high.” The highly dedicated teachers give their best to the students and the students learn the best practices which help them become virtuous human beings of the nation.
